Poker has become world celebrated as of late, with televised tournaments and celebrity poker game events. Its popularity, though, stretches back in fact a bit farther than its TV ratings. Over the years numerous variants on the original poker game have been developed, including a handful of games that are not in fact poker anymore. Caribbean stud poker is 1 of the above-mentioned games. Despite the name, Caribbean stud poker is most closely affiliated with twenty-one than long-standing poker, in that the players bet against the house rather than the other players. The winning hands, are the traditional poker hands. There is no concealment or other types of deception. In Caribbean stud poker, you are expected to ante up prior to the dealer broadcasting "No more bets." At that point, both you and the casino and of course all of the other gamblers are given five cards. After you have looked at your hand and the dealer’s first card, you have to in turn make a call wager or bow out. The call bet’s amount is equal to your original wager, meaning that the stakes will have doubled. Abandoning means that your ante goes immediately to the dealer. After the bet comes the face off. If the casino does not have ace/king or greater, your wager is returned, with a sum on par with the initial wager. If the house has a hand with ace/king or greater, you succeed if your hand defeats the bank’s hand. The house pays out chips equal to your bet and controlled odds on your call wager. These expectations are:

  • Even for a pair or high card
  • two to one for 2 pairs
  • three to one for 3 of a kind
  • 4-1 for a straight
  • 5-1 for a flush
  • 7-1 for a full house
  • twenty to one for a four of a kind
  • fifty to one for a straight flush
  • one hundred to one for a royal flush
