Howard Lederer grew up in a family of five where he loved playing numerous card games at a young age. He discovered himself getting really aggressive in these particular card games while playing his dad. The actual improvement in his skills happened when he started betting at the Mayfair Club in New York. The Mayfair was a bridge and backgammon association where the the most favorable gamblers would frequently play against one another. Howard was able to access a few of the foremost minds in chess. With their help, Howard Lederer would tweak his strategic thinking abilities. Howard applied these strategy concepts to the game of NL texas hold’em.

Howard also assisted his sister Annie Duke learn poker. Annie Duke was a great student of the game as she constantly asked questions about how to make the proper choice. Howard Lederer told Annie to head out to Vegas and compete in the World Series of Poker tournaments. She is one of the greatest women players the poker arena today. Howard moved to Las Vegas in Nineteen Ninety Three and competed in money games for the following 10 years. When the WPT grew in popularity, Howard made the decision to play more tournaments.
