Web Big Stakes Poker- Gus Hansen

Gus Hansen had a marvelous year on the World Poker Tour where he was the only gambler to make it to the final game in three of the tournaments. Gus Hansen has appeared on High Stakes Poker on The Game Show Network where he bought into the game for $400, 000. You might remember one of the largest pots in big stakes poker recorded history against Daniel Negreanu. Hansen secured a large pot with quads against Daniel’s full house. Gus has earned many tv poker appearances and is considered to be one of the strongest gamblers around the world. While competing in net poker, another side of Hansen has been seen. He regularly participates in the 200/400 No Limit max buy-in of Forty Thousand dollars. Hansen usually buys-in for the min of $16, 000 and plays very weak. He waits patiently for a decent hand and then pushes all in. I believe Gus is an outstanding poker player but not even close to the regular players at 200/400no limit. Unless he is broke, he has little or no reason to play at the table with the minimum buy in.

Playing for the minimum takes a majority of the skill out of deep stack poker. Gus is accepted to be 1 of the greatest poker players in the world but he can’t buy in for the full amt.. I think tv can skew our perception of the real world sometimes. The best players in the world may be players you have never heard of before. Gus can be found wagering on net poker on Full Tilt. He generally competes in big stakes Omaha and Holdem. Gus Hansen has shown himself as a competition player. Can he use his abilities in money games?
