Phil Ivey has been referred to as the greatest poker competitor in the world by most of the top pros. Phil Ivey was born in Riverside, CA and relocated to New Jersey before reaching turning one. His papa showed him to one cent-ante 5-Card Stud poker. From that point on, he was addicted to poker and wanted to discover every little thing he could about the game. Phil would tell his grandparents that he was planning on being a professional poker player. Phil didn’t permit the detrimental feedback from others kill his goal of becoming one of the strongest poker players in the world.

Phil began playing intently after getting a false ID with the name of Jerome. He sharpened his techniques at the casinos in Atlantic City. The initial few years for him were a learning experience and winning wasn’t a common outcome at the time. He made his mark at the 2000 WSOP where he achieved 2 final tables and won his first WSOP bracelet, in a $2, five hundred Pot-Limit Omaha game. At the last table he destroyed quite a few of the well known pros including but not limited to "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

Phil decided to take his game to the successive level and moved out west to Vegas. He continues to participate in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the best players in the world. Ivey credits his success to dedication and a continuing passion for the game of poker. He says that he’s learning every day and is quite humble about his achievements. Phil admits to making blunders in each session of poker and constantly aspires to get better.

Despite the fact that Ivey has won some large tournaments, he prefers destroying cash games on a regular basis.
