Internet High Stakes Poker- Gus Hansen
Gus Hansen had a wonderful year on the WPT where he was the only gambler to achieve final table in 3 of the tournaments. Gus Hansen has been seen on High Stakes Poker on GSN where he paid $400, 000 to play. You might recall one of the biggest pots in big stakes poker history against Daniel Negreanu. He won a large pot with quads against Daniel’s full house. Hansen has earned many televised poker appearances and is considered to be one of the greatest bettors anywhere in the world. While betting on online poker, a different side of Hansen has been seen. He regularly competes in the 200/400 NL maximum buy-in of $40, 000. Hansen more often than not buys-in for the min of $16, 000 and plays very weak. He waits for a good hand and then pushes all in. I know Gus is an excellent poker player but not even close to the familiar players at 200/400no limit. Unless he is penniless, he has little or no reason to sit at the table with the minimum buy-in.
Playing for the minimum takes a majority of the skill out of big stack poker. Hansen is accepted to be 1 of the best poker players anywhere in the world but he can’t buy-in for the full dollar value. I believe television can alter our perception of the real world sometimes. The best poker players in the world could be players you have will not have heard of before. Gus can be found wagering on internet poker on Full Tilt. He generally participates in high stakes omaha hold’em and Holdem. Gus has shown himself as a competition player. Can he back up his skills in cash games?
